Not all key programming is the same. The complexity depends on your vehicle’s immobilizer generation and the type of key involved. We handle all of them.
Standard Transponder Keys
The most common type — a physical key with a transponder chip embedded in the plastic head. The chip must be coded to the vehicle’s immobilizer. Without programming, the key turns the ignition but the engine won’t start.
- ✓ All OEM transponder chip types
- ✓ Duplicate and all-keys-lost
Proximity / Smart Key Fobs
Push-button start vehicles use proximity fobs that communicate with the vehicle wirelessly. Programming requires writing the fob’s unique rolling code into the vehicle’s smart key control module — a process that requires professional programming equipment.
- ✓ All smart key and push-start systems
- ✓ Remote and keyless entry coding
EEPROM-Based Key Coding
Many European vehicles (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche) and some Japanese makes use EEPROM-stored security data. We read the EEPROM directly from the immobilizer or key module to extract pin codes and security seeds — enabling key programming without dealer access.
- ✓ BMW EWS/CAS, Mercedes EIS, Audi/VW
- ✓ Pin code extraction via EEPROM
BGA Chip & Soldering Work
Some key modules require physical board-level work — BGA chip removal, soldering of new security chips, or reballing of damaged solder joints — before programming can proceed. We perform full SMD and BGA soldering in-house as part of our key coding service.
- ✓ BGA and fine-pitch SMD soldering
- ✓ Security chip replacement
All-Keys-Lost Recovery
When every key has been lost, stolen, or destroyed, we recover the security data from the vehicle’s immobilizer EEPROM and use it to generate and program new working keys. No tow to the dealer. No module replacement.
- ✓ EEPROM extraction without chip removal
- ✓ New key generation and sync
VIN Writing & Virgin Module Programming
New or replacement immobilizer modules arrive “virgin” — they have no VIN or key data written. We write the VIN, program the security seed, and sync the keys so the replacement module works with your existing keys without a dealer visit.
- ✓ VIN and ISN writing
- ✓ All major platforms supported
We Do What Most Shops Won’t
Most automotive locksmiths can program a standard transponder key on the spot. But when the job involves EEPROM extraction, BGA soldering, virgin module initialization, or all-keys-lost recovery — most shops send you to the dealer.
We handle all of this in-house by mail. Component-level board work, advanced programming, and immobilizer repair are daily operations for us — not special cases.
- ✓Autel IM608 Pro II for all-keys-lost and EEPROM-based systems
- ✓Full SMD and BGA soldering capability in-house
- ✓Contact us before shipping — we’ll confirm what’s possible upfront
- ✓12-month warranty on every programming job

Key Coding FAQ
What’s the difference between key cutting and key coding?
Key cutting shapes the physical blade of the key — any key shop can do that. Key coding (also called transponder programming) is the electronic process of writing a unique crypto code into the key’s chip so the vehicle’s immobilizer will recognize it. Without this step, a correctly cut key will turn the ignition but the engine won’t start. We handle the programming side — the electronic half that requires specialized equipment and knowledge.
Can you program keys if I’ve lost all of them?
Often yes. In all-keys-lost situations, we use EEPROM reading to extract existing key data directly from the immobilizer module, then use that data to program new transponder keys. Availability depends on your specific vehicle make and immobilizer generation. Contact us with your year, make, and model before shipping anything — we’ll tell you upfront what’s possible.
Do I need to ship my car’s ECU or just the key?
For most key coding jobs you’ll ship the immobilizer module (sometimes called the PATS module, EIS, or EWS depending on make) along with the key(s). Some vehicles require the ECU as well to complete the sync. We’ll tell you exactly what to ship after you contact us with your vehicle details.
How long does key coding take?
Most key coding jobs are completed in 48–72 business hours from receipt. All-keys-lost situations may take slightly longer depending on the EEPROM complexity. We’ll confirm the timeline when you contact us.
What if the programming doesn’t work after I install it?
Our 12-month warranty covers every programming job. If the key isn’t recognized after installation, contact us — we’ll diagnose and fix it at no charge.
What vehicles can you do key coding for?
All major makes — Ford (PATS), GM, Dodge/Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai/Kia, BMW (EWS/CAS), Mercedes-Benz (EIS), Audi/VW, and more. Contact us with your vehicle details and we’ll confirm compatibility.
Need Your Keys Programmed?
All key types. All vehicle makes. Soldering included when needed. 12-month warranty.
