Ford PCM Repair FAQ

What is a Ford PCM and how do I know it’s failed?

Ford’s PCM (Powertrain Control Module) combines engine and transmission control in one unit on most platforms. A failed PCM typically produces P06xx internal fault codes, U-code communication errors, no-start conditions where all sensors test normally, or persistent CEL codes that don’t clear after replacing the indicated sensor. PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) faults that prevent starting are also a common PCM-related issue.

Will the repaired PCM need PATS programming?

Yes — and we handle it. Ford’s PATS system stores transponder key codes in the PCM. After repair, we reprogram the PCM to your VIN and perform PATS key synchronization. In most cases your existing keys will work without a dealer visit. We include any vehicle-specific instructions with your return shipment.

Can you repair Ford EcoBoost PCMs?

Yes. We regularly repair PCMs for 1.5L, 2.0L, 2.7L, and 3.5L EcoBoost engines. EcoBoost PCM failures often present as misfires, boost control issues, or no-start — we diagnose the root cause at the component level.

What about Ford diesel ECMs (6.0L, 6.4L, 6.7L PowerStroke)?

Yes, we repair diesel ECMs and PCMs for all PowerStroke generations. 6.0L and 6.4L platforms have known ECM failure modes we address regularly. Contact us with your specific engine and fault codes.

How long does Ford PCM repair take?

Most repairs are completed in 48–72 business hours from receipt. Rush 24-hour service is available. We ship same day the repair is complete.
